9K Interview #1

Leo V

(Online)

9K

1. Hi Leo, how are you? Let’s dive straight in & find out a little bit about where you’re from, your background & the early stages in your life that lead you towards music & fashion modelling?

Leo V

Hey

In terms of where Leo V is from, the answer is nowhere and everywhere, even tho its 100% me it’s really not me at the same time, leo v is just me trying to push everything I like into one kind of aesthetic

I don’t want to represent any specific place because so many different things influence anything I do artistically

9K

2. That’s a very interesting concept in terms of the way you look at yourself as Leo V. Do you think growing up in your early environment/location had an affect on the type of creatives ideas that you choose to include in your music?

Leo V

No not really but maybe i’ll do something inspired by it one day.

Anything I work on or put out/post is more a reflection of where i’m at in that moment

9K

3. Okay that makes sense, but also in terms of music, your sound in particular could be seen as contemporary & futuristic in terms of the way your production and vocals lay together. What is the process that you go through before starting production on a new track?

Leo V

Yeah I’m inspired by movie scores more than actual “songs”, as much as I like music that’s relevant now, I usually try to make something different about whatever I produce

9K

4. That definitely sounds like more of a technical approach! Are there any particular movie scores that have had a significant affect on the choices you’ve made with your production and/or vocals?

Leo V

I’d say eurostar was unintentionally inspired by 90’s horror movies

Other than that its only unreleased stuff thats inspired by scores

9K

5. That’s actually very surprising to hear as ‘Eurostar’ has a very modern sound to it in terms of the style sonically! Which 90s Horror movies would you say inspired it?

Leo V

80s*

Maybe something like nightmare on elm street in terms of melody

9K

6. Yep! We can definitely hear the influences. Especially with the Evil sounding Intro & Distorted Vocals to ‘Eurostar’. Has spending time in London changed your opinion or outlook on the music scene, fashion scene and/or creative scene in general in the UK and if so, why?

Leo V

Musically no because I’m always gonna make what I want even just for fun, but fashion wise London is cool because its where so many ideas start, I love what brands like Liam Hodges and A-Cold Wall are doing

9K

7. We saw that you’ve actually modelled & walked for popular fashion designers/brands such as ‘Liam Hodges’ & ‘CULT GLORIA’ too! How did these modelling opportunities come about for you?

Leo V

Liam Hodges just started from a casting & cult gloria its just family now, I have a lot of work on the way with the brand

9K

8. Both of those clothing brands have some amazing concepts behind them in terms of the designs & execution! How did you feel when you saw the picture of yourself modelling ‘Liam Hodges’ S/S 2018 Menswear Collection in VOGUE Magazine?

Leo V

Yeah CG is all horror movie concept so its unique, its more about the films than the clothes which makes it that much cooler

9K

9. So, horror movies play a large part in terms of your own music but who are your Top 5 favourite artists (any creative field) of all time & have they also inspired you when it comes to your own creative ideas and/or aesthetics?

Leo V

No it was just that one song tbh all types of films inspire me

Thats a hard question as it changes a bit

9K

10. Okay, maybe this is more appropriate in your case - if you had the choice of working with 1 Musician & 1 Fashion Designer that are either on scene now or have been in the past, who would it be and why?

Leo V

Musician rn I’d choose hans zimmer because he’s really a genius

Musician from a certain period would be 808’s kanye cos thats the best album of all time to me

It would be cool to work with Samuel Ross rn, not many pushing the boundaries as much as him and he’s a lot younger than most of these designers

I feel like hans zimmer could teach me the most

9K

11. Great choices - Hans Zimmer, Kanye West & Samuel Ross are definitely creatives that are exceptional in how they apply a personal touch to their art! So, what’s next for Leo V? Can your listeners expect to hear any more singles or a debut project from you in 2018?

Leo V

It’s possible, next I have a short film otw so there will be some sort of music in it I guess

9K

12. Are you able to share any information on this short film or is completely under wraps for the moment?

Leo V

Yeah I don’t want to say anything until it’s complete but it’s gonna be unexpected I think

9K

13. That’s sounding exciting - can’t wait to see what you come up with! Lastly, can we expect to see you modelling for any other clothing brands/designers again in the near future?
